Subject: Operational Patterns and Combat Doctrine of the Celestial Questors
Segmentum: Ultima
Primary Recruitment World: Caratacus (Forested Feral Moon, Verlamion System)
The Celestial Questors are The Emperor's will made manifest: originally sons of a barbaric, forest-shrouded moon, yet exemplars of Codex Astartes precision. Recruits are drawn from the savage clans of Caratacus - tribal warriors who hunt beneath green canopies and revere the "Emperor's Chosen" who descend from the heavens to take the worthiest among them.
Despite these primitive origins, once inducted into the Chapter the neophytes are moulded into paragons of order and discipline. The Chapter's commanders enforce the Codex Astartes not merely as doctrine, but as scripture. The contrast between deep-rooted primal spirit and codified warfare produces a brotherhood both fierce and methodical - as unyielding in heart as they are in formation.
Tactical squads form the backbone of every strike force, advancing within the armoured carapaces of Rhinos or Razorbacks. Their movements are deliberate, methodical, and in perfect synchronization with Codex formations. The Chapter's leadership prefer to maintain continuous momentum, with each squad acting swiftly, establishing fire corridors for supporting elements. Astartes of the Celestial Questors are as skilled with the sword as they are with the boltgun, showing no fear in the face of ruthless close-quarters combat.
The Chapter's blessed Techmarines make frequent and innovative use of Tarantula Sentry Guns, often deployed as static guardians to secure newly-taken ground, freeing up Chapter Marines from rear-duty. Thunderhawk Gunships will often airdrop entire detachments of Tarantulas into the midst of battle zones, their automated targeting spirits activating mid-descent. The effect is sudden and devastating.
