Despite its outwardly peaceful appearance, Verlamion-1 is highly volcanic. Hydrothermal vents deep below the surface support a wide variety of aquatic life, and eruptions frequently form new islands above the waves. The majority of these islands, however, crumble within a few years. What scant solid surface Verlamion-1 does contain supports very little life, consisting mainly of mosses, lichens, and microorganisms - most of which are not originally native to the planet.
The Fortress-Monastery of the Celestial Questors - "Deepfathom Cairn", lies eight miles below the ocean's surface within one of only a couple stable regions. Embedded in the planet's crust, it utilises the geothermal activity of Verlamion-1's core to power its wealth of facilities.
No other settlements exist on Verlamion-1. Aspirants are drawn exclusively from the planet's single moon - Caratacus. Caratacus is primarily composed of ancient forests and large lakes. Classified as a Feral World by Imperial designation, it is populated mostly by loosely dispersed tribes and fauna typical to temperate worlds. However vigilant Astartes and indoctrinated militia man orbital defence stations across the lunar body. Like all Feral Worlds, careful scrutiny of the populous' religious beliefs must be maintained to prevent the spread of Chaos.
